Mobigonchi Application
For part of my course I designed and created a mobile application or game. My application was closely around recreating the tamogotchi. This seemed like an idea starting point as this was something that was originally designed for all the obstacles that mobile devices suffer from, such as small screen sizes and low process power. I was originally planning to develop the concept further to take advantage of some smart phone features such as the PIM API which should allow me to access the calendar and let the tamogotchi celebrate events such as birthdays, this could then be expanded for advertising events vis downloads created by corporations for the creature. As it stands it only has limited date recollection but it does perform several tamagotchi from eating, feeding playing and even mood based evolution.
The following instructions apply to putting the game onto a Nokia phone with MIDP 2.0 using the Nokia PC suite and connection device (bluetooth/cable/infrared). Other phones with Java MIDP 2.0 should run it but you will have to look at manufacturers guidelines on how to install jar files. The reason the instruction are only for Nokia is because the application was developed for the Nokia 6822. This has a resolution of 128 X 128 which means the application will be smaller and centred on phones with higher resolutions.
