Into Poland and beyond

We took a lift quirte soon which could have been a disastore but we just wanted to be moving. Picked up by a Polish man in a van he drove us over the border and dropped us before going North. After some confusing communication about trains he dropped us on the right road but at a tiny, tiny gas station and we dispared. After the experiance yesterday thios might be fatal.

In our desperation we asked around the shops and happened to atract the attention of and American speaking Polish man who was buying petrol and confirmed that people do go to Warszawa from there.

We resinded to hitch up by the road but it wasn't looking great. Then the American speaking man came back!

It turned out that he was heading to Warszawa but might have to stop in Proznan. This was fine and it turned out he took us the whole way to outside the train station.

Our 6th lift was Marchin who had studied in American and was now going to live in Brussels as his wife was working for the Embassy there. He lived in Warszawa and his parents just outside.

We arrived at the station some few hours after the other who had gone a completely different route in a supprisingly similar timer period.

We trekked (аnd I mean trekked) to the bus station where we bought tickets to Vilnus for that evening combining travel and accomodation. We then waitted by the bus station and not a lot else happened. We were after all exhusted. We spent the rest of our Polish money on a mystery meal due to our lack of Polish and me and Tansy went and donated our tents to the local camping site so we had less to carry around as we would be in hostels (and buses/trains) mfor the next few months at least. We were off to Lithuainia at half eight that night.

A great record Ben of your mega hitch across Europe and I do feel that the invention of treckled, as a verb to describe weary long-distance walking, is inspired!
